Kamara wants to play for Saints as their RB2
To the Saints surprise, Kamara showed up to practice in early June and told reporters that he wants to finish his contract with the Saints. He's made it clear that he's okay with his role next to Travis Etienne, too. Long story short, if the Saints are okay with Kamara's contract, then he'll be the Saints' RB2 this season. Do the Saints want him on this deal is another question. They don't save a ton of money this year by moving on, but it does make their 2027 salary cap better by releasing him. They haven't currently asked him to re-work his deal, but that could be the middle ground here. It's a lot of pressure to release an all-time player for their franchise, and I've increased the odds of him being a Saint with the news. The Saints should be a functional offense hovering around league average production in the league's fastest-paced offense. Etienne typically has a pass-based RB2 next to him, and that's obviously Kamara's best asset as he's lost steps as a runner. There could be a few random spike week games as a reliever, but Kamara's upside is tied to Etienne missing time. He does not have to be drafted in 10-person re-draft leagues. He could be a waiver wire thumbnail player, however.
