Aiyuk has been deeply unserious while setting fire to tens of millions of dollars. The 49ers weren't able to get a hold of him for months, and then he was now arrested for misdemeanor speeding after filming himself going 100+ MPH right by the 49ers stadium. How did he respond? Well, on social media he posted himself racing on a track. Progress? I guess? The 49ers have his rights and don't save money by releasing him right now compared to the kickoff of the 2026 season. It's presumed that they'll wait as long as they can before he's eligible to sign with the Commanders or whoever else. It's clear that's where he wants to go, but how much the Commanders are willing to invest, how ready his body is for play, and how much of the playbook he'll now with just days to prepare are all very valid concerns. There are Diontae Johnson levels of risk here. He also was one of the best 15 WRs in the NFL before his torn ACL.
