Kyler Murray will return Jefferson to stud WR1 territory
Jefferson is about to remind everyone that he's arguably the best WR in the NFL. Before the disasterclass of the 2025 Vikings QBs, Jefferson was averaging the most PPR points per game (20.1) among WRs from 2022-2024 if we also remove the Josh Dobbs and Jaren Hall games. That was 100.1 receiving yards, also the most over that sample. Kyler Murray is far closer to the Kirk Cousins and Sam Darnold tier of QB than he is the JJ McCarthy, Carson Wentz, Dobbs, and Hall tier. And Kyler's best throws (downfield and sideline shots) are what Jefferson thrives at and what coach Kevin O'Connell pushes for as a playcaller. The Vikings were 26th in points per game last year and now project to at least be 20th according to the betting markets. That feels low to me, after O'Connell has made every QB look better than their talent (aside from JJM). Kyler has produced great seasons out of DeAndre Hopkins (2020 - 88 YPG and 2022 - 80 YPG) and Trey McBride (2024 - 72 YPG) attached to the worst franchise in the NFL. Jefferson doesn't have the infrastructure that Ja'Marr Chase, Puka Nacua, and Amon-Ra St. Brown have, but he's a lot closer to them now that Kyler is in house. Underdog projects Jefferson for 1149 receiving yards and 7.5 touchdowns. I'm playing the higher.
