Rice looks better in GTA than PPR as each day passes
Rice was the WR5 on WR2 expected points last year while healthy. Unfortunately, his on-field production matters less than everything else. Rice underwent a clean-up procedure for debris in his knee, stemming from his previous knee tear. Deciding to do that in May instead of January is concerning, but it was a reported two-month time frame and he'd be ready for training camp. Well, that doesn't account for him not getting the proper physical rehab because HE'S GOING TO BE IN JAIL for the next 30 days. Rice violated his probation by testing positive for weed, and the judge is now forcing him to serve 30 days in jail right away. He was going to serve 30 days at any point he wanted over the 5 years after his plea agreement was signed, but he lost the privilege of deciding when that'd be. On top of that, the judge could add penalties. Rice lost all trust many allegations ago, so at any point, the next shoe can drop. It'd be a surprise if the NFL suspended Rice further because of his violation, but at what point do the Chiefs do something about him? That could mean an team-based suspension, a pivot away from him as a centerpiece, or an outright trade/release. The most likely scenario remains Rice is ready for Week 1 or shortly there after, but the complexity of his knee and the risk of the next legal run in are real. Rice is a no-floor upside play in Round 4. His current Underdog ADP of 19th overall will certainly drop. Stock up: Xavier Worthy and Travis Kelce.
